Capilano Suspension Bridge

Written by on July 1, 2011 — Leave a Comment

I’ve been on a bit of a bridge kick lately, if that’s such a thing, so I thought I’d share two awe-inspiring bridges I’ve come across in the last few days.  The first is the Capilano Suspension Bridge (pictured above) in Vancouver, British Colombia Canada.  It seems to be in great condition, considering it was built in 1889, and at 450 feet across and 230 feet above the Capilano River below, it seems as though it would be a pretty scary trek across.

The second is equally impressive. The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge (pictured below) has recently been opened in China, and sports a length of 42km (about 26 miles).  Up until now, I had traversed the longest bridge of its kind in the world, the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana.  This new bridge, which connects the eastern coastal city of Qingdao to the suburb of Huangdao, is about 4km longer than the Louisiana Causeway.  Fascinating!

Asylum Artists gives you a peek into the guitar building workshop of luthier Joe Yanuziello.  It’s a brilliant, beautiful look into the craft of guitar building.  Check it out…

We have a proliferation of books that we’ve amassed since (and just before) becoming parents.  But none of them sound as exciting to me as this one.  Love it!

Words can’t do this justice.  One of my very favorite songs, receiving a fantastic tribute on YouTube through over 30 cover artists.  Great work…enjoy.

Thanks Sheila!
