Carmageddon’s Iconic Photo

Written by on July 22, 2011 — Leave a Comment

As many of you heard, the famously jammed 405 highway in Los Angeles was shut down last weekend for repairs/construction. During what I’m sure was mayhem, a few adventurous friends, including Jesse Glucksman, decided to have an impromptu dinner (sans actual food) on the abandoned roadway.  The picture above is the result.

Close Up Shots of Sand

I’m not sure why, but these photos of sand at a magnification of about 250 times their real size are fascinating to me.  As you can tell, each grain of sand is unique, just like snowflakes.  View more here.

The iPhone SLR Mount

The iPhone SLR Mount ($190-$249) gives your iPhone access to Nikon or Canon lenses for supposedly great quality photos.  I’m not so sure this doesn’t defeat the purpose of having a portable camera that fits in your pocket. Nonetheless, the set includes an aluminum case, a fairly thick lens adapter, and a UV filter, all of which connect to the iPhone to create your own SLR. Check it out here!

Lettermpress iPad App

Written by on July 8, 2011 — Leave a Comment

A new app sponsored by Neenah paper has come out, featuring a digital interactive letterpress, and I’m all over it.  Lettermpress allows you to pick the tools, colors, etc. to create your letterpress work of art, which when completed can be shared via email, social networking, or printed.

Via Dexigner:

The app brings every step of the traditional letterpress printing process to the iPad screen, from selecting and assembling vintage wood type, and mixing colors, to selecting paper, and hand-cranking the virtual letterpress.

Thanks Blakeley!
